Oh my stars. It’s over. It’s all over. How am I supposed to go on now? I guess I have Stars Above left, but I don’t know if that’s going to help.
I almost regretted reading Fairest between Cress and Winter, but it really helped me to understand Levana better. Levana came back in full force right from the start. She’s gone from determined to delusional in a matter of weeks.
Once again, I guessed a few things, but nothing major in the plot. I had no clue how this was going to end and I lived in fear that people were going to die. This one took me so much longer because I sub-consciously didn’t want it to end. I wanted this story to go on forever.
I really appreciated that Cinder kept a mental note of things to address once she became queen. Also, I really like the touches of classic fairy tales tossed in at crucial times (especially Levana saying, “I want that cyborg’s heart served to me on a silver platter” p. 455), reminding me that these are futuristic retellings.
I’m shifting back to Levana for a second, because you’d think after the disaster that was her first marriage, she would quit using her glamour to look like her husband’s old wife/girlfriend. Why does she think that’s cool? Just another reminder that she’s freaking nuts.
I spent the whole novel imagining Winter sounded like Starfire/Princess Bubblegum. The way she talks and her demeanor remind me of those characters. And also I imagine her to be a cinnamon roll that could actually kill you...
My last thing on Winter is just a note of a happy ending. I don’t get enough of those.

This series has stolen my heart. It’s well written, familiar, but also original. The characters are wonderful, lovable, and diverse. My favorite thing about these books is the sense of love and friendship that builds between all the characters over just a few months. They’re all so loyal and dedicated to one another, and it makes me wish people were like that in real life. Meyer did a great job letting the characters grow together, but as individuals as well. I loved watching her writing improve and I really look forward to her new series.
